About us
We are an independent family business, based in the historical Covered Market Oxford since 1952. We are passionate about supporting local farmers and reducing the carbon fruit print across the food chain; reducing plastic packaging and doing all our central Oxford deliveries on foot (and soon electric bikes!) keeping those food miles low.
You can also place your order online- bringing your local, experienced green grocer to you!
Where possible we deliver our produce on foot by sack trolley to our wholesale customers. We support our local farmers showcasing their seasonal produce, ensuring fair pricing for them and reducing food mileage. We are also members of Good Food Oxford.
We stock seasonally from our local suppliers and source the more exotic in-demand goods such as avocados or dragonfruit via the London markets. We stock a very wide variety of fruit & veg as well as fresh herbs and nuts.
We’re open every day Monday-Saturday 8-4pm. To do our part in cutting down on plastic we no longer stock carrier bags & encourage our retail customers to bring their own packaging/bags, but if you are caught out we sell our branded Bonners tote bags and we can offer reusable food waste bags for your goods too.

Rectory Farm – 6 miles from our shop and very well known for their amazing strawberries!
Richard and Carla rent Rectory Farm from New College, Oxford and the adjacent land at Manor Farm in Forest Hill from Lincoln College. Extra bits of land are rented to grow potatoes in the surrounding area. It has some easily worked land which was vitally important before tractors. Many crops at Rectory Farm are irrigation scheme constructed in 1964. The reservoirs ensure a supply of water which is vital when there are droughts.
Laggotts Farm - 9 miles from us, outside Hinton Waldrist, Oxfordshire
A family run business, they are a traditional farm, 9 generations old! They’ve worked the land for 105 years. We have been supplied by them since our beginnings in the 1950s. They supply us with purple sprouting and white sprouting broccoli, red onions, cabbages and squashes.
B&G Nurseries - 40 miles away in the Vale of Evesham
B&G Nurseries was established in the late 70s by Bob Byrd and Nick Gorin and provided the foundation for the growth of Ferryfast. The nurseries have expanded over the years from just 2 glasshouse sites to over 400 acres of land and 9 acres of glasshouses across several locations in the Vale of Evesham.
The nursery grows an extensive range of products on its open land, together with large orchards of plum and apple varieties. The glasshouses provide a range of salads and exotic vegetables with seasonal chillies being a massive part of the crop.

We deliver fresh fruit and veg in Oxford, covering the whole of Oxford. You can use our new online shop and order your fruit and veg online and we will deliver it.
We have a great selection of high quality fruit and veg, everything from everyday to salads to the exotic. We also have a selection of wild mushrooms, dried fruit and nuts. We generally sell in the traditional greengrocer style by weight. If you are unsure of the weight you need when ordering online, just give us a quick call and we are here to help!

We supply a number of businesses round Oxford city centre; restaurants, pubs, schools, cocktail bars, and Oxford University Colleges. We can focus on local sourcing for our wholesale customers as well as supplying those slightly more unusual requests such as Spanish calcot onions!
